With the new media age's coming, (two kinds of reading assumes in readers' reading - ??? Say what?), which respectively takes paper and new media as the center. Currently, profits of traditional media are decreasing while new media becomes more and more popular. Tencent Network deputy editor-in-chief, Li Fang, said that the media is stepping into an unprecedented new era and that Weibo has changed the media zoology.

"Nowadays, everybody can be a reporter. Everyone can distribute information. In the past days, we were the consumers of information. But with the birth of the internet, we can be the source of news and major purveyors of information," Li Fang said. "In the new media age, content is still important; the content is still King. The trend in the future may be that the traditional media will provide content for new media."

He then gave the company Gome as an example. He pointed that a lot of domestic electronic companies provided products to Gome and it [Gome] was responsible for packing and sales. He added that Gome had a good sales network and was also a famous brand. "It is like an excellent platform. So too the internet. The press offers internet content and makes it a platform to earn extra money. (This is the way traditional media turns around in the era of digital media -  ??? I am not sure what you are trying to say here)." Li said.

The use of “weibo” sites (the Chinese translation of “microblogging”) has exploded in China in the last few years, and two companies in particular have come to dominate the market: Tencent and Sina. Tencent launched Tencent Weibo in 2010, its service, too, has been growing at a fast pace, and today they claim over 800 million registered users. Li Fang admitted that 40 percent of Tencent Weibo users were registering through QQ, which made those registered stats run high, while in fact many of those users were’t even active. But he said he felt confident in the " Weibo race" because Tencent QQ Messenger has 674 million active users and it has formed a mature social network by providing other popular services like on-line games, search engines, and so on. Meanwhile he said that Sina Weibo also did a good job that contributed to the development of new media. He said Tencent would treat Sina as a learning object instead of treating it as a its greatest rival. He believes good service and advanced technology will be the key to winning the competition.
