(In your lead, I don't see any connection between HKEJ raising its retail price and the newspaper industry is declining. Or do I miss anything? It is Chan, not Tim in news writing. Always use the last name. You should tell your reader Mr Tong is the president of the Apply Daily before this Mr Tong suddenly popped up in your story. Your article was rather well structured but your writing has a lot more to improve.)

The Hong Kong Economic Journal has raised its price from $6 to $8 in early September, meanwhile the Executive Chief Editor Tim Chan expressed his view to the newspaper industry that "It's declining." in Shue Yan University yesterday.

As Tim mentioned, MTR is a good observation tools of newspaper industry. Nowadays nobody read newspaper in MTR, they hold a smartphone in hands instead. He told a story in Apple Daily years ago, a student requested President of Apple Daily for a student discount in a school newspaper visit. Mr Tong promised to deliver each newspaper at $2 each but the outcome is only 4 students ordered in the whole University. Tim suggested that the decline of newspaper is no longer only the problem of price, it's also the news consumption pattern of readers.

Although he predicted that newspaper will disappear in the coming 10 years, he hold an optimistic view towards the news industry. He pointed out that the news industry is facing the change of reading behaviors but not refusal of information. He encouraged the journalists that the market demand of news/information are even higher than before. People consumes news more frequent so that the immediacy of news reporting is important in this trend. He emphasized, "The matter is if the society still need news, but not which media they consume."
