"Seek for Peaceful Democracy"

by Wong Wun Ling 24th September 2013

With the "Occupy Central Movement" (OCM) in the spotlight in Hong Kong, an opponent said, "We are refusing to fight for democracy through the turmoil."

"In order to seek for a harmonious movement, we should use our tongues rather than our fists," said Chow Yung, the convener of Silent Majority, which opposes to the OCM. He claimed that OCM poses threat to the local development. For instance, the standstill of transportation in Central will bring a paralyzed chain reaction to the traffic system of Hong Kong. He instantiated the riot of Egypt and rejected the bloodshed democracy.

For the issue of "True Democracy", he pointed out the Article 45 of the Basic Law, which states the Chief Executive of the HKSAR shall be selected by election and be appointed by the Central People’s Government. "The Chinese Government has the veto power for rejecting the selected Chief Executive of HKSAR. And this is the reality," said Chow.

"Everyone has the right to participate the Chief Executive election. However, it is different in reality," Chow said. He claimed that it is impossible for having a Islam President in USA and saying "Allah bless America" instead of "God bless America".
