The last Hong Kong Budget by John Tsang Chun Wah in his term of being the Financial Secretary was released last Wednesday, followed by dissatisfactory and disappointment of many citizens. Chiu Sin Chun, senior financial commentator of NOW TV described the proposal totally ridiculous during his speech in Shue Yan University yesterday.

“Hong Kong Budgets of recent years lack visions and energy,” criticized Chui. He pointed out that the government should invest more in solving root problems and long-term developments of the city instead of just making small favors like rebating salary and profit tax. “It is just too conservative that it has the wrong focus on managing money rather than using them to contribute to the citizens,” said Chui, at the same time suggesting the government to invest more in education, technology , housing and other long-term developments instead of just distributing money to its citizens directly.

Responding to the wish of receiving $6000 again from the government of many citizens, Chui described it depravation. He pointed out that as youngsters nowadays are knowledgeable and able enough, there should be no reasons to have measures like taxes rebate. What the government should do is implementing proper research and developments to make suitable and practical measures which would truly benefit the society. ((you mean, 'ridiculous'...besides the spelling gaffe, everything else is nice and clear...good flow between paragraphs))
