"The public should not resist red capital", says senior media person

A veteran media executive has urged the local media setor not to resist the 'red capital,' or mainlan investments.

In recent years, many Chinese enterprises have been involved in Hong Kong's media organisations. This issue caused fear among masses as they think it poses a threat to press freedom.

speaking at xxxx, Kuo sai the use of new technology such as AI is the new trend in media development. Since 2015, artificial intelligence has been used for writing news articles. Kuo then commented on Hong Kong's limited market and its possibility for improvement. Kuo said Hong Kong should accept capital from Chinese enterprises. However many Hong Kongers are against any capital support from China. Kuo justifies only support from big companies like Baidu and Alibaba can help develop Hong Kong's media scene.


Kuo said Hong Kong must be fully prepared to develop media intelligence. "Development comes from employers, employees, the overall structure of the company and its culture, change must come from all aspects. How could an employer and their employee change if they are not both on board?" said Kuo. Kuo further emphasises on how reporters need to avoid being led astray by mainstream media.
