'OpenRice' Founder: Censorship is our selling point

'We are the only one diet information website with censorship.' Ray Chung, founder of OpenRice.com said. He believe censorship can help to build their reputation by ensure the quality of posts.


OpenRice.com is a popular restaurant guide and review website in Hong Kong, which is also the hundred most hit rate website of Hong Kong. Chung attributed its success to their censorship policy. 'We never publish those posts with no value to our visitors.' They would check whether the posts are accurate by their editorial censorship, which included checking contents and user name.


Although the approving works increase their workload, they still insist this policy to ensure the quality of their posts. 'At the peak period, we have to censor over 70 posts per day. However, we believe the quality is important than the quantity. That's why we can become a credible website.' Chung emphasized.
