“Being a reporter is not an easy job” The Senior Vice President (News) of Asia Television Peter Kwan shared his opinion: being a reporter is an uneasy job when he came to Hong Kong Shue Yan College this Tuesday to share his view and his experiences on 24hrs television news.

He thinks working as a reporter is very tough and demanding as reporters need to have comprehensive knowledge. “They need to have a basic knowledge in every field and it is necessary for a good reporter”. As a result, he thinks it is worthy for students to study General Study and they should pay attention on all kinds of thing in their daily life.

Besides this, being a good reporter also need to be a good team player. “It requires strong coordination between reporters and their colleagues such as the camera men and the drivers.” A reporter needs the camera man to record, needs the driver to drive the car to the destination. In the emergency cases, they may even need to replace the role of each others. So there must be a strong team spirit between them.

On the other hand, reporters are facing a new challenge nowadays. Competition among different media is more and more intense, reporters should able to take multi-task as media are not willing to employ so many employees since they want to cut down the operation cost. "As a result, a reporter not only need to do the reporting, and also need to do the recording and driving at the same time. Therefore, reporters are not only reporters, they are also the camera men and the drivers at the same time."
