Speaking at the assembly in Shue Yan University, writer and the director of Kwang Hwa Information and Culture Centre Hu Ching Fang said that Hong Kong is not a cultural desert.

“I don't agree that Hong Kong is a cultural desert,” Hu said. “Hong Kong has various cultural activities, like talks, music shows, movies,” she added.

Although Hu thought that Hong Kong has great diversity of cultural activities, she said that Hong Kong people didn't pay enough attention to local creations. “People should pay more attention to the local creations and the stages for non-mainstream artists are needed,” she added.

Hu believes that teenagers are not responsible for promoting cultural activities, but they should be part of the activities. “Teenagers should do what they want and just have fun,” she added. “They should not concern about money when they want to do arts, it’s because happiness is what they can get.”
