As profit-for- purpose companies, most newspapers in Hong Kong are trend to provide eye-catching news to attract more readers for the profit maximization. “The media even tried to sensationalize and exaggerate the news to make it more deceptively juicy as they are facing the high competitive in Hong Kong newspaper market,” Lo said.

Lo also said that the media only wanted to satisfy reader’s gossip but not provided positive value or inspired the readers. In case of national education, most newspaper, especially the Apple Daily, sensationalized the news with agenda setting. And so their reader were “brainwashed” to believe that the national education is bad for the children even thought they had never read the guideline of this subject.

As the only news agency in Hong Kong, HKCNA was different from other media that news agency needed to supply news report to other news organization, and so HKCNA should provide the objective information with both positive and negative side to show readers the whole view of the society. “We will become better and better, just same as the foreign news agency,” Lo believed.
