“Spin Doctor”: Keep Conscience

The former Press Secretary of the Chief Secretary Office, Mrs Kwan Lai-man Cheng stated yesterday that the “Spin Doctor” should keep the conscience, on the seminar of the Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

Cheng is now a senior political PR and the founder of AsiaNet Communications Ltd,

Cheng emphasized that the conscience is important for a political PR officer which usually called as “Spin Doctor”. “We should keep the conscience, it is important to us. We can only speak selectively, but we can’t tell lie to the public, since we are working for the interest of the public. ” said Cheng.

Facing the accusation to the political make up, she admitted the PR officers should not spend to much on it. “The political make up can’t be hold for a long time, we need to show the fact to public one day. That’s why we shouldn’t spend too much on it, otherwise it will affect the image and the honesty of the politician, when public found that our speech were different from the fact.”

She finally reclaim that the responsibility of a political PR is to serve the public well. Thus, the suggested policies should be appropriate and have positive impacts to the society.
