HONG KONG, October 25−Due to the (sharp?) technological development, journalism is facing a big challenge. Journalism has been forced to change as “New Media” which is multiple and demanding for multi-tasking (unclear about what you mean by multiple). Also, reporters are under pressure (on this changing indeed-awkward). This is a controversial issue on journalism in the past few years. Up till now, there is still no absolute answer. (What is the controversy?)

The department of Journalism and Communication of Hong Kong Shue Yan University and Department of Communication of University of Macau cooperated (x) a seminar (x) today’s afternoon, discussing the current environment of journalism changing under the internet growth (run on sentence).

May Chan Suk-mei, Chief inspector of News and Public Affairs, Commercial Radio, found that journalism(not a person, specify those who are facing the challenges) is facing many problems such as technological innovation, multimedia development, requiring huge amount of investment, losing human resources and demand for good content. She claimed that one medium can survive or not in this challenge is depended on the owner’s budget (unclear sentence-edit). To develop from traditional to (multiple?) needs huge amount of investment. Money is the main source of development (common knowledge).

Although changes is(sva) very hard due to many uncertainties and challenges, changing are(sva) a must on today’s journalism, Chan admitted.

Simultaneously, the medium should not neglect the social responsibility and freedom of the press besides the development (no clear subject verb relation, unclear meaning). Chan emphasized that “quality of news and the social responsibility are at the core of journalism. ” Hence, she claimed that media should (have?) uniqueness on the content and quality. Or else, the media would be (valueless=worthless).

Besides the development of media, “New Media” would increase reporter’s workload as it requires multi-tasking. However, the salary of reporters is relatively low which is unreasonable. “Yes, everybody can be multi-tasking, especially youngsters. However, we should consider the quality of news. If we do everything, then where is professional (what does this mean?, which professional?)” said Chan.

She argued that reporters are not supposed to work (for multi-tasking?) at the same period. She said “cooking 3 dishes at the same time would not be successful at last.” Chan believed reporters should specialize in one specific skill, instead of doing everything sloppily.

Your article needs to have one focused news angle, you have to chose which aspect you will focus on and try to develop the examples in a concise manner. This means having clear and to the point sentences, and providing concrete, real life examples so the reader learns something new about the current state of journalism.
