“Wei Bo is a gift from god,” said Qian Gang, from a speech given at Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday. After seeing how the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda department has limited the media in country during the incident of Wenzhou train collision, Qian has claimed that Chinese media nowadays was under great suppression. He has admitted that under such pressures, it was very difficult for the Chinese media to have any breakthroughs in the near future. “Limitations made by the government are blocking media’s work. But there is always not only one way. Don’t miss the gift from god, it is Wei Bo,” said Qian. He then explained that, as a new way of releasing news, Wei Bo has successfully changed the mode of news production and it is not that easy for the government to suppress it as it allows faster and freer spreads of news. “If everybody can use it effectively, there will be still a way for the Chinese media to improve,” concluded Qian.
