Speaking at Shue Yan University general assembly about the current trend of watching TV in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Also share the experience of Korea’s media development , Wong Kit Ling who is the Executive Deputy Controller of TVBS MEDIA INC.

Wong has 25 years experience of doing TV news and now she is being a news editor which is a challenging work of her. “The most fascinating thing of news work is when the journalists see the first moment of what is happening at that time,” Wong said.

Wong mentioned that the current way of presenting news has changed. Especially the foreign trend is to watch news on mobile phones. For example, CNN's Mobile Visual Stories is leading the trend. On the other hand, Taiwan TVBs is following the trend and starting to make AMP Stories. Wong added, “ AMP Stories is a big trend, but whether it will become the future to replace TV news is still open to question.” In addition to AMP Stories, Stereo News is another new trend that is used to attract people to stay on TV and watch the news. Stereoscopic news uses a three-dimensional pattern to simultaneously display the news analysis of the anchor, which can explain the news content clearly.

The appearance of mobile phones has reduced the number of people watching TV. According to the 2018 Household Income and Expenditure Survey, it is found that 90% of Taiwanese families have installed the fourth one, and only 10% of the households subscribe to newspapers or even read newspapers. If you have a subscription to a newspaper, you will only watch 12 minutes a day, and there are very few. Wong believes that most Hong Kong people do not watch TV news because the news is repeated again and again, especially the news of "three-color TV station" with a little falsehood and simplification. Even if it is a news station, it will be repeated every half hour. The real content is very less.“I hope TV news in Hong Kong would be more attractive and press close to the public in the future,” Wong expected. --165070 2018年10月30日 (二) 17:28 (CST)
