Innovative technology has become a major trend in the world. In order to cultivate more scientific and technological talents, governments of various countries have also made efforts to promote STEM education. The Hong Kong Government has also been committed to promoting this education in recent years.

Moni YL Law, founder and CEO of ICanCode, attended the Hong Kong Shue Yan University Weekly Meeting this afternoon. She said that the STEM education method is better than the traditional cramming education, and she hopes that computer programming can be included in the compulsory courses in primary and secondary schools.

Moni YL Lawpointed out that STEM education is a kind of activity education, while students are the center and carry out two-way education. This will inspire students' personal interests and achieve the purpose of self-learning. Through the teaching of the four areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, we develop students' thinking skills in many aspects. Compared with traditional education methods, it is more suitable for the current society.

In addition, Moni YL Law also expressed the hope that the Hong Kong government can incorporate computer programming into the local primary and secondary school compulsory subjects. She cited the compulsory courses that have been included in the national schools in Europe, America, Japan and other countries. In order to enhance local competitiveness, she pointed out that Hong Kong can also follow the example of the above countries. However, she also pointed out that this new education requires a lot of resources and cooperation from all parties.

Therefore, the Hong Kong Government should focus on development and it will take time for the community to adapt.
