The birth of Octopus Card delights our life

“Making everyday life easier is the mission of our company.” Prudence Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Octopus Cards Limited, points out the Octopus Card brings much more convenience than the past days.

With the support of some large transport companies such as KMB, MTR Corporation, CityBus etc. They put aside the competition and cooperate with each others.

The development of the Octopus Card is kept on growing. In 2000, Octopus Card was passed by the HKMA to diversify the use in retail shops. “It is a milestone of us;”the CEO says gracefully. “We are continuously innovative, seeking better ways to conduct business and creating new opportunities.”

“We are trying to make our living cashless and the Octopus Card will become an everyday card.” Chan says with hopes. Chan emphasizes Octopus Card is the story of Hong Kong people. “Even in the primary and secondary school, they use Octopus Card for checking the attendance.”

Making the living become simple, convenient and reliable is the company’s mission. “Our company creates a trusting and encouraging environment for customers, staff and shareholders whereby we can communicate, collaborate, share and support each other as equal partners;” Chan explains.

When being asked about the main obstacles of the Octopus Card, the CEO says, “Cash definitely!” Making our living cashless is our goal. The sound of the Octopus Card “Dood ”and you are there.
