葉青霖:傻瓜機同樣可拍到靚相

Yip Ching Lam, one of the famous photographers in the territory, said he has been indulging in photographing since he was in primary school. He likes photographing as he wants to express some valuable and meaningful ideas through his photos.

The veteran photographer said the most paramount thing of a photo was its power to make people feel touching. “Feeling is the most important point of a photo,” he said a successful photographer has to be sensitive as well as perceptual.

Some people begin to learn photographing always grumble they cannot take good photos as they have not adequate and advanced equipment such as expensive lens. Yip said whether the equipment advanced was not a big deal, “good photographing depends on the skill of the photographer, not the camera.”

Yip has engaged into his creative career for more than 20 years. He said he was gratitude for his fortune as he enjoyed his work as well as photographing.

“When you enjoy your work, you will get the job done. You devote all your effort in the job and feel satisfactory about your work,” he said.

Yip has taken numerous photos. Some of them have been collected and edited into albums. He said there were no rules about how to take a good picture.

“Don’t be restricted by rules or theories. Photographing like draw some creative pictures. You just bring your skill into full play,” he said.

“The basic element of photographing is creative. The subject matter may come from everything in daily life. They may be simple and trivial things,” he encouraged beginners of photographing have better to look out what happen in the society.

Yip said he felt regret as Hong Kong Government has not put much effort in developing art culture especially of photographing. “I feel very confused and frustrated as there is no photographing exhibition hall in the West Kowloon Culture District. As we know, photographing is one of the visual arts,” he said.
