After reading the statement during a talk in Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Ricky Wong said that the content is repeating something that the government have mentioned before.

“ It just mentioned ‘a basket of factors’ which is known, nothing new.” Wong said.

Wong also stated that there are only 3 or 4 members of ExCo have experience of running or involve in a business, doubting the professional qualification and knowledge standard are not enough to make a decision without referring to the professional report.

Furthermore, Wong said HKTV is considering whether to reveal parts of details of the consultancy report or not. “Although the government claimed that the report is a confidential document, we never sign on the agreement page.” Wong pointed out although that they(HKTV) may publish the report in a creative and moral way. “We are gentleman, we won’t do anything against the law and moral standard.”

Being asked whether HKTV will buy ATV in order to capture free-to-air broadcasting right, Ricky Wong responded that HKTV have no plan of buying ATV. However, HKTV have once made a serious research and discussion about buying TVB. “TVB is a mature, success company to certain group of people.” Wong said. “However, to change the style or a form of a company which have a long glorious history is rather difficult. Also the style of TVB doesn’t suit me.” Wong continued. “I like something which is more creative and a little bit more rebellious.”
