91% HK Research Papers Got Rejected in International Journal Reported by WONG Chun-ki

The founder of Wallace Academic Editing, Dr. Steve Wallace gave a talk in Hong Kong Shue Yan University today, pointing out the common English errors that causing Hong Kong research papers to be rejected by those international journals.

Wallace is an experienced professor in the field of English research writing. He pointed out that there are many errors, which are the main reason to be rejected. The most common errors are faulty methodology, inadequate references, poor quality, poor writing style and use of English… etc.

For instance, Hong Kong researchers like to use passive voice instead of passive voice, Wallace said it would be better to use active voice in most of the fields of academic research papers in order to help improve the flow and allow the readers to follow your meaning. In addition, we use passive voice when the author is unknown or the interest focuses on what is acted upon.

Besides, too many words are also another problem. Generally, people use a phrase to express instead of using a word. Wallace listed many phrase and related vocabularies to explain people should prefer to one word to make the papers shorter.--115058 2013年10月29日 (二) 21:00 (UTC)
