A Flat World leads competitions

Further studying in Oxford for a year make Cheung realized that the world is flat. Rapid globalization has raised competitions among elites all over the world.
Sharon Cheung Po-wah, senior Vice-President of a listed company and former TV news reporter knew this concept ‘the world is flat’ when studying aboard. It was optimistic that a global village is born, the geographical barriers no longer exist and shorten the distance between you and me, but this result more fierce competitions. “Employers do not consider the educational level and academic result only, but put more emphasis on the character of a person. “I heard that the final round of an interview to an international investment bank is to have a dinner altogether, they observe the interviewees’ personality, leadership and communication skill in a dinner.” Cheung said.
Cheung described her Muslin classmate from Palestine as not respecting ladies. “I dislike him so much at the beginning, but later I found out his beliefs comes from his religion and the culture in his society,” Cheung said, People should be tolerate to allow multicultural so as to cope with different people.
Most westerners possess negative image to China, blaming China lacks humanity and the freedom of speech. She pointed out that they have biased reporting in the Tibet rebellion case, described it as forceful suppression which is a deviation from the truth.
On the other hand, she also pointed out that China did not seize the chance to explain, but to restrict the press to enter Tibet which worsens the relations to the countries that strongly advocate human right. “A strong and developed country can only be there if it is open and to allow different political views, but not to depend only on the GDP and economic income each year.” Cheung said.
The growth of a country consists of two elements, education and to recognize facts. People learn independent thinking through education and therefore are critical to other and facial facts. More, media is the agent to recognize facts and tell the public. “I am not interested to be an educator, therefore I choose to be a reporter”, Cheung added, “The 4 June event has inspired me to be a reporter when I was in middle school.”
Furthermore, Cheung was described as ‘a beautiful anchor’ and asked if it is a healthy phenomenon, “You will see a beautiful anchor whenever you switch on the TV, it is a global trend. Audiences prefer a presentable lady to be an anchor, no matter in Hong Kong, Korea, England or even Brazil.”Cheung said.
She was once criticized by former President of China, Jiang Zhu-min as too simple and sometimes native. When asked if Cheung has to thank him for bring her reputation and to be well-known, “I don’t think I would thank Jiang, it is the milestone of my past in media industry.” Cheung added, “Instead, I think not only Jiang, but China should learn to be more capable to different political views and criticisms in order to catching up with the world leading countries.”
