Most of the reporters in Hong Kong lack taste in aesthetics, Kan Tai-keung who was the Founder of KL&K Creative Strategies, said yesterday in an university talk.

The Poly Auction Hong Kong held a auction sale recently and a nearly 30 million yuan valued painting piece, created by a contemporary Chinese painter, Cui Ru Zhuo was sent to the garbage landfills because of the impudence of a cleanser right after the auction.

Many Hong Kong's mainstream newspapers put this incident as their headline story. Kan Tai-keung questioned those reporters and editors' way of handling this news and didn’t think that this was a worthy headline story. He said that the missing painting was only a mediocre work, but not at an international level and the painter of this piece was not a front ranking painter too, it didn’t make sense to put this news as a headline story. Also, he criticized the aesthetics sense of Hong Kong reporters. He said that most of the reporters didn’t have a normal aesthetics standard to comment on the real art value of this missing piece. He added that he treated this news only as a hype, but not a big news at literary and art circles as the Poly Auction closed the case too soon.

As more and more bloody pictures can be found at the newspapers easily, Kan Tai-keung said that overuse of the demagogic pictures was a malpractice. He explained that many media made use of the bloody photos and sensationalism to attract readers and he didn’t think that it was good. He emphasized that not every photos can be published on the newspapers as newspapers were a form of communication that could reach mass public, media should keep their ethics standard well. --115045 2014年4月15日 (二) 17:41 (UTC)
