A charity mystery: Where does the fund go?--095091 2012年3月13日 (二) 19:17 (UTC)

Hong Kong has more than a hundred charitable institutions, and fundraising events are seen everywhere. The public often doubts that “where do the funds go?” As the first charity launched Walkathon in Hong Kong, the Community Chest said that they received donations to subsidize 149 NGOs and make investment in a prudent way [Good intro].

The Community Relations Manager of the Community Chest, Louie Tong, said today in Hong Kong Shue Yan University, “Only a small portion of fund is taken to invest,” added that the Community Chest understands people donate because of its trustworthiness and reputation. [What is invested in? Where do the rest of the funds go? What does the Community Chest do?]

“We (the Community Chess) also suffered loss in financial tsunami [What financial tsunami?],” Tong admitted that every investment has its risks but, in the long-run, this loss will be compensated by future gain [How big was the loss? When will it be recuperated?]. She also said that, to avoid the unpredictable loss, the Community Chest has a committee of 9 bankers to make up the most stable investment composition plan each year along with 6 meetings to report their duties to the treasury. [What are the investments for? Which NGOs are subsidized?]

[A brief article that provides very little detail.]
