Advertising Industry Short of New Blood

Dixon Wu, the director of Flagship Co. Ltd, expressed his concern, in Shue Yan University this Tuesday, about the lack of new blood in the advertising industry, adding that he was also bewildered by some of the bad impressions left by some interviewees.

“There was this interviewee who sent his mom to the interview, her reason for her presence in the interview was that she knows his son the best,” Wu says. “There was another interviewee, when asked to introduce himself briefly in English, his reply was that he can’t do it.”

“We have been posting our recruit advertisement for months now, the turn out rate is low.” Wu says. Wu preliminary speculation for the low application rate is the location of Flagship’s office.

“We are based in Sha Tin, but I found out that isn’t a problem.” Wu explained, “The entire industry is facing a shortage on new recruits.” Wu found out that the advertising industry is short of new blood when he was discussing the problems his company is facing with fellows who work in the same field.

Wu revealed the basic criteria to engage in the advertisement industry is to have good communication skills.
