Speaking at the assembly in Shue Yan University, Angela Ng, the Executive Director of the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong said advertisement industry is not a sunset industry.


“It depends on the companies fit in the trends or not,” Ng said. “There are advertisements everyday, advertising companies should change their mindset, as advertisements are expressed in different channels.”


“Customers really don’t know what they want,” She added. “It is more difficult for us to sell an idea.”


As online and digital advertising are popular nowadays, KOL (Key Opinion Leader) has become a trend for promoting products and services, Ng said guides should be set by the government.


“Hong Kong can learn from the U.S.,” She said. “KOL should indicate there are advertisements in the content.”


Moreover, she suggested people to start up their own companies.


“Why don’t you join a startup company first?,” Ng said. She urged people to participate in startup companies before they try to get started, so that they can get familiar with the operations of the companies.


“It’s successful if a startup company get merged by other companies, and this is a trend,” She added.


When talking about the 4As Kam Fan Awards 2018, Ng said the topic is “Mindfulness and Living Well”, which aims to raise the public awareness of depression and mental health. “You’re doing something good for the community,” She believes that good works come from heart, and they can bring positive to the community.
