The quarrels of Digital Broadcasting Corporation (DBC) between Albert Cheng and Bill Wong Cho Bau had reached an end, however, the founder of DBC said he was still optimistic on the future of digital audio broadcasting in Hong Kong.

After leaving DBC, the first digital radio in Hong Kong found by him, Cheng expressed his view on the future of digital radio as “bright and profitable”.

“There is too less FM radio channel in Hong Kong, and the content of it did not change much for a long period of time,” Cheng commented the current situation of radio in Hong Kong.

Cheng said the experience he gained by visiting all over the world, including the United States and the Europe, reflected a dead end of digital audio broadcasting, he continued to think digital audio broadcasting can be a new and popular way to receive information.

The fail of digital audio broadcasting in other countries was due to the overflow of FM radio content, as well as the hardware.

Cheng added he solved the problem of the digital radio being too expensive, for around $700, by reducing the function to audio only and moving the manufacturing process to mainland.
