Albert J. Cheng, the founder of Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Limited (DBC), said it was feasible to launch a new radio channel with new content in Hong Kong.

“The development of radio in Hong Kong was very slow. The programs of Radio Television Hong Kong do not have a merit, so a new channel could provide more choice for the audience.”

Cheng said he expected “D100 would launch four channels in May”, including editorial, family, English, Mandarin and music programs.

“The audience of D100 was mainly from overseas; therefore, the radio would target Chinese from all over the world,” Cheng said.

Cheng said D100 is now renting the studio from Next media and broadcasting through official website, apps, facebook and telephone. “Telephone service could attract the elderly who did not access the Internet,” he said.

Cheng said Although he lost the radio license and the 0.1 million audience listening DBC, he had lighter burden since he no longer needed to pay one million per month for the cost of DBC, which includes copyright and license fee.
