HKSYU, 4 Mar - To preserve cultural heritage, government have made many efforts. Alice Mong, the Executive Director of Asia Society Hong Kong Center (ASHK) indicated that everyone has role to play.

Located at Admiralty, the Asia Society Hong Kong Center is a nonprofit organization donated by other organizations and individuals which aim to promote Asian Culture. It used to be an integral part of the British military lands. But now, ASHK has become a museum with history and culture. Besides, environmental protection is also a significant topic they concern about. There is a elbow-shaped bridge originally designed to be straight.

“It was redesigned to protect the roosting area of the site’s resident fruit bats,” said Mong at the general assembly of Hong Hong Shue Yan University.

Just like environmental protection, government have faced many difficulties in preserving heritage. Mong thought, people should give a hand.

“We can do more,” said Mong,”even if pick up trash on the floor.”

Since ASHK has wonderful mission to share with people, Mong tried to balance the commercial interests to run the center. Although the center could get money through renting exhibition hall, rental never pay the budget.

Therefore, to promote the center to Hong Kong people, Mong came up with three method. Firstly, website need to be changed into Chinese version since it’s only in English now. Secondly, build good relationship with local language media is significant and helpful. Last but not least, sosial media can not be neglected in network era.
