“When I was still in school, I couldn’t imagine there will be large multi-media as nowadays,” said Craig Au-Yeung, referred to a senior multi-media worker in Hong Kong, who has played the roles of a cartoonist, an art director, a graphic designer, an interior designer, a writer and a radio host for many years.

The large multi-media environment provides Au-Yeung to have opportunity to work in different medium; also makes Au-Yeung considering if his performance can keep up with people’s expectation. “The name, multi-media worker means you handle different medium works, also may means you did not do well in specific criteria.”

“I treat my books as my son,” said Au-Yeung. Since Au-Yeung has lots of experiences in media, in his book producing project, Au-Yeung took part not only in the text but the page designing, pictures taking, book promoting, etc. “I treat my books as my son,” said Au-Yeung.

In Au-Yeung’s book writing, he likes listening to people’s opinions and observing different people. “The concept of “Author” I have dissolved long ago for collecting more creative ideas.” Au-Yeung thinks the process of sharing ideas with other people gives him brain-storming.

Promoting literacy education to students In his latest book, Hong Kong Wei Dao (“Wei Dao” means “Taste” in Chinese), Au-Yeung persists in most the producing works. Au-Yeung is also interested in education, he is considering promote his book as a literacy education material to the primary, secondary and university.

Au-Yeung said something that is around us everyday, not guarantees that it will exist all the time. Like Mak's Noodle Restaurant, Sa Qi Ma (Sweet egg cake) and dumpling, they may suddenly disappear in the future, by the changes of society, policies, or business factors, for example like rent increasing and the Link’s purchasing actions.

“Beautiful Cooking”, degrading food and female As a food and drinks articles writer, Au-Yeung criticized the TV program “Beautiful Cooking” angrily. “They did not respect food, so I don’t respect them,” said Au-Yeung. He thinks that the program degraded food and female.

Au-Yeung shares his media experiences in the weekly assembly with the Shue Yan University students. A student asked about the eating taste of Hong Kong youth. “Dining at home forms people’s eating taste,” said Au-Yeung. He replied that he is worried about the eating-out culture, which decreases the youths’ opportunity to foster eating taste.
