(Instead of telling us the problem, your lead should give us an answer as to how to solve the HK - Mainland conflict or the lack of tourists supporting facilities by using the future development of Lantau Island as an example. Also, you need to give us some geographical information about the Lantau Island. For example, what is the total area or the size of the island as compared to the Hong Kong Island and how far is it from the HK Island? )

Allen Ha, the Chairman of Lantau Development Alliance, said that the problem Hong Kong facing was not lack of tourists but the supporting facilities.

The Individual Visit Scheme allows tourists from Mainland China to visit Hong Kong on 2003. It makes a great contribution to the economy of Hong Kong. Recently, there are some conflicts between Hong Kong people and Mainlander, that makes people to rethink this scheme.

Ha said that lack of tourists is not the problem now Hong Kong facing. He noticed that the difficulty of Hong Kong tourism was not enough supporting facilities and the ability of receiving tourists was weak. As the result, more that ten billion incomes could not go to citizens’ hands.

Well planed of North Lantau Island would be the solution of today’s tourism, he said. He added, lots of tourists visit Hong Kong, but the facilities cannot support. It was because the scheme of Hong Kong’s facilities was not well planned.

He added that the tourism of Zhuhai and Macau would be better than Hong Kong in the future. He thought that, The Individual Visit Scheme helped a lot on tourism in 2003 but there was still a room to grow.
