Alliance for True Democracy denied collusion with Taiwan independence forces

Oct 22, 2013 by Tang Hoi Ling

The spokesperson of the Alliance for True Democracy denied on Tuesday that he was colluding with Taiwan independence forces during a recent meeting.

Joseph Yu-shek Cheng said his meeting in Taipei with Former Democratic Progressive Party chairman Shih Ming-teh was an ordinary personal meeting but supported by the members of Alliance for True Democracy. Global Times had accused pan-democrats of colluding with Taiwan independence forces after the meeting.

Cheng also judged the Central Government was not qualified to criticize him of colluding with foreign forces. He said the Chinese Communist Party accepted Soviet Union's sponsor in the past and invested most of the capital in America, which was also acts of collusion with foreign forces.

The distribution of free-to-air TV license became a controversial issue in Hong Kong society as Hong Kong Television Network (HKTV) application was rejected by the government without a clear explanation. Cheng said Hong Kong government owes its citizen an explanation since the result is far from public expectation. A student asked Cheung whether he thought the government’s decision contains political considerations. Cheung said it depends on how we define ‘political’. “All the things in the society are related to political, so it is hard to say.” Cheng supplemented.
