As the management of a corporate, you need to have the sense of crisis management at all the time.” Mr. Kwan Chuk Fai, the general Manager of the NWS Holdings Limited shared his point of view when he held a talk titled “Crisis Management” in Shue Yan College today.

There may be many kinds of crisis of a corporate, but according to Kwan, the confidence crisis, which deals with the goodwill of the corporate, is the most difficult to handle among all of the crisis. However, there are two steps in handling crisis that can help managers to deal with the crisis efficiently.

First of all, the most important part is to be well prepared. “Management always needs to have the best preparation for the worst situation. It can be done by having a business continuous plan (BCP) and the back-up system including the back up data and a back up office. Every employees should also has a emergency telephone guide so that they can contact the relevant person at once and tackle the problem”

Secondly, management has to contain the damage, which means they should face the public honestly, be responsible and care the public, and try to get people support in order to contain the damage.

Lastly, Kwan also stressed that “Crisis is not only crisis. For those non recover corporate, they will suffer damage to their reputation while for those recover corporate, it is a chance for them to enhance their value and reputation.”
