Aware our crisis---marginalization

Mr Leung Chun-Ying, the Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council agrees with the economy scholars who bring up the worry about the middle-long term development of Hong Kong. Mr. Leung explains, as the development of mainland is in such a high speed that it would be probably put Hong Kong into crisis. The relative superiority of Hong Kong is descending. For example, China's foreign exchange reserve is ranking number one globally, the freight handling capacity of wharf in mainland is relatively much more than Hong Kong’s. The marginalization problem of Hong Kong is so imperative and worth our government to make immediate consideration.

Leung continue his speech in Shue Yan University on the 29th January, analyze that there are two big limitations hinder the development of Hong Kong economy. Firstly, It is ridiculous that Hong Kong is a free economic society without a free land trading market as the land in Hong Kong is monopolized by the government. Secondly, there is a lack of mobility between Hong Kong working population and the capital with the neighbor cities.

Leung emphasize, Hong Kong economy couldn't depend on market forces blindly Government without doubt responsible to develop Hong Kong future. He suggested Hong Kong should take reference in Singapore, where the government directly invests important industry, like airbus A380, DBS bank and so on. Leung praise that the government recent investment on west railway is an intelligent and correct consideration. Although railway investment can only gait a little profit but it is an important asset to public.
