Community (?) has a negative impression on Mainland media. “Journalists should not judge the whole industry by part of the negative practice,” said Qian Gang, the director of China media project.

A journalist should be objective towards mainland media. Qian illustrated the case of the Wenzhou bullet train. Xinhua News Agency, so called tongue of the government, put a great effort in making a detailed inquiry on the reason behind. ‘One thing you have to bare in mind, is that there are still many conscientious reporters in mainland China,” added Qian. (He reminded, especially for the journalists in Hong Kong, do not have a preconceived ideas on mainland media). Journalists should realize they have improved comparing to the past.

‘Wei Bo is a gift from god for China,” said Qian. It has become a new channel to deliver news; everyone can also be a reporter. He referred to the case of Wenzhou bullet train, the first news related to the case was from Wei Bo but not the traditional news channel. Besides, the China government banned all news reporting about the accident a week after it happened. But the newspapers in China kept releasing what they wanted to say through Wei Bo. Qian hoped the mainland media can make a good use of the gift from God and make a better day for the China people in the aspect of news reporting.
