(Ricky Wong of HKTV is hot news these days so when he gave a speech in the GA meeting, reporters came and covered the event. Here are some excerpts of what the media has reported:

Apple Daily - - Fate of HKTV to be decided in 6 months.

Ming Pao - - Wong threatens to reveal a confidential report in "a creative yet legally bound way" to challenge the government within a few days.

Oriental Daily News and The Sun- - Ricky Wong claims there is huge discrepancy between what the government reveals and what the confidential report says. And Tam Yiu Chung of the DAB party has urged Wong, on three occasions in three days, to consider acquiring ATV as an alternative. Since Tam is considered a Beijing surrogate in HK, the suggestion therefore could be viewed as evidence that Beijing has not held any grudge against Wong, thus not the reason for Wong's failure to obtain a license.

Other reports touch on issues like: Ricky Wong criticizes the government for being unfair as it is free to release selected sections of the confidential report to publicly attack and ridicule him while he is gagged by law and rendered defenseless.

My dear classmates, since our assignments and theirs are basically the same, we could therefore compare the media stories with ours to see if we are up to par with others. If our reports miss or lack what the others have, we should ask ourselves why and see if we could do better the next time.

Your title is misleading. If you say Beijing is not the biggest enemy, you are giving your readers an expression that Beijing is indeed an enemy of HKTV, except it is not the biggest. But in fact, Ricky Wong has stressed all along that Beijing is practically no enemy at all. Who is "Che Kung"? You need to explain it to your readers.)

"I am 99% sure that (our application for a free-to-air licence being rejected) was unrelated to Beijing,' said Chairman of Hong Kong Television Network (HKTV) Ricky Wong Wai Kay. He said HKTV's biggest enemy was TVB.

Ricky Wong Wai Kay repeatedly emphasized that the rejection of HKTV's application for a free-to-air licence was unrelated to the Chinese Central Government nor Beijing when speaking in an assembly in Hong Kong Shue Yan University this afternoon. He said many "Che Kung" told him that when asked why he was sure.

He answered "yes" when asked whether he thought TVB was HKTV's biggest enemy. He said that TVB would not fear competition from the two other applicants, i-Cable and PCCW, as television stations gained viewership by dramas instead of news programmes.

After the government's statement about the reasons of approving licences was released later in the afternoon, Wong commented that the government "did not dare" to claim that HKTV ranked lowest. He also criticized the point in the statement that people's time spent on watching television would not unlimitedly grow was wrong. He said as the television rating points of TVB were only twenty something, meaned that more than 70% people did not watch TVB because TVB's programmes did not suit them.
