Better Hong Kong after handover

While some Hong Kong citizens always cherish the memory of the day before the handover, a media professional believed that both China and Hong Kong take advantages from it.

"The policy of "one country, two systems" is applied by Chinese government successfully, since Hong Kong is developing rapidly after the handover," said Liu Wei Zhong, the Editor-in-Chief of Bauhinia Magazine, as a talk to Hong Kong Shue Yan University students yesterday.

"China supported Hong Kong a lot, especially on the financial issue," said Liu. "Most state owned enterprises entered Hong Kong stock market to raise capital, where part of it became the tax revenue of Hong Kong government."

"There are enormous amounts of Chinese visiting Hong Kong every year after implementing individual Visit Scheme, thus the Mandarin of Hong Kong salespeople are great now," Liu commented about the improving communication between two regions after the handover. "Meanwhile, in the past, there were large amounts of Hong Kong citizens who never visited China, but now even secondary students would travel to China three or four times per year." With more interaction, Liu expected that the two regions will get closer and have better development.
