C.E.O. of DBC believes freedom of press is retained

By Kel Chan 115037

After a long haul of disputes between Albert Cheng, the founder of the Digital Broadcasting Corporation (DBC), and Bill Wong, the current major shareholder, the company formally relaunched its broadcast with seven all-day stations and new leaders.

Chief Executive Loh Chan is confident that Wong’s background will not influence the freedom of press of the “refreshed” station.

Followed by the government’s approval of the change in equity of the DBC, Wong held 99.6% of the corporations’ shares and the whole station “revived”. Some in the public are concerned with Wong's background as a member of the National Committee of CPPCC , but Loh, the new C. E. O., claimed that it should not be worried.

‘We talked about it when I first enter the company. Bill emphasized the fairness of the media. To avoid any controversy, he is solely a shareholder and didn’t enter the directors’ board.’

Loh, an experienced journalist, determined that they will keep a moderate view on news reporting. ‘We will not take a significant stance like Takungpao, Wanweipao or Apple Daily. Any complaints are welcomed if you think are too radical,’ he said.
