CHOW: NO RIOT NO BLOOD

By Cheung Yik

Chow Yung, chairman of Robert Chow and Friends Limited, expressed concern about the riot aroused by “Occupy Central” at a talk in Shue Yan University today. He opposed to any form of disruption to the peace people are enjoying now.

“Do not give rise to riot in exchange for democracy, we don’t want bleeding,” said Chow. He suggested negotiation for different parties to work out a “win win” situation for the 2017 Chief Executive election. He felt nervous about the success of “Occupy Central” since it will lead to an uncontrollable situation that may finally need the suppression of People’s Liberation Army. “As a final defense, they need to take action if the Hong Kong Police fail to protect the city.”

“I am passive in the method of election,” said Chow. He gave an analogy between 2017 Chief Executive election and banana. He said that he was not interested in how to eat the banana, but whether he could eat the banana. He just got one principle for the election, which there will be candidates in different political stands. “There cannot be an universe idea for everyone, we could only take the majority which can also be accepted under the established system,” Chow added.
