The Broadcasting Authority is going to issue new licenses for domestic free television program service. CTI is one of the companies that had made application for that. Although the result is still unknown, CTI has been already making thorough preparation, including building a new factory.
Apart from CTI, I-Cable and PCCW applied for the license too. But only CTI is going to build a new factory for television program production. Ricky Wong, the chairman of CTI, commented that other applicants were just going to launch new TV channels but not new TV stations.
The new broadcast station of CTI will be built in Tsueng Kwan O Industrial Estate at a cost of 8 hundred million HK dollars. The ground-breaking ceremony will be held on the coming Friday. It will have a floor area of about 300,000 sq feet, consisting of 8 production studios. One of the production studios will be largest in Asia. It will have an area of over 15,000 sq feet.
Besides, CTI is willing to spend much on manpower too. Ricky Wong estimated that CTI would employ 1,070 staff working for the new TV station in 2012 and the number would keep expanding. Ricky is going to spend HK$2 billion to train new talents in TV industry also.
“We are ready for competing in the TV industry. We will cause a change,” Ricky is keen to build his new TV empire. That has been his dream since he was young.
