Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying held a press conference this afternoon, explaining there is no domestic violence in his family and calling on the public to give his 23-year-old daughter Leung Chai-yan space as she is suffering from “health problems”.

“As the daughter of Chief Executive, she has been facing tremendous pressure,” Leung said. He added that Chai-yan has been suffering from “health problems” since her studies in the UK.

He also denied that there was abuse in his family, after an ambulance was summoned to Government House this morning. He said that no one at the scene need medical treatment.

Patrick Nip Tak-kuen, Director of Information Services, called on the public to “put themselves into CY Leung’s shoes”, trying to understand the situation of Leung’s family and giving they space to settle the issue.

Nip added that it is impossible to reveal all the details about CY Leung’s family issue as it is not related to public interest.

Chai-yan published a spate of Facebook posts earlier this morning, claiming that she was mistreated by her mother Regina Leung Tong Ching-yi and she was not allowed to leave Government House.
