Candy Lo: HKCNA has its stand point

Recently, the conversations between the shareholders of DBC has been unwrapped on the internet. Once again, Hong Kong citizens questioned the manipulation of Chinese Government. At the same time, the credibility of the Chinese newspaper has been suspected. Candy Lo, the Deputy Chief Editor of Hong Kong China News Agency (HKCNA) thought that the Chinese media is more open-minded and hope Hong Kong people could give the Chinese Government more room and time .

Lo: Should be aware of political exploitation

In the past years, there were many social movements. Undoubtedly, Hong Kong people are more enthusiastic about political issues. Lo claims that she appreciates the social movement calmly. She said China has loosen the restrictions of reporting social movements. The China News Agency started reporting the people's commemoration of June 4 five years ago but not to avoid. Lo describes Joshua Wong as Hong Kong China News Agency. Joshua is studying in the leftst school - Fukien Secondary School, but still adhere to the social protest, as in HKCNA. Lo advices Hong Kong people to participate in different social movements but also take the initiative to understand the background of the movement, and do not blindly follow to avoid being misled.

China's political system subject to newspaper

HKCNA is criticized by a lot of readers that most journals are supporting the Chinese Government, such as Li Wangyang event HKCNA did not write on multi-angle but make its left stance. Lo admits: "HKCNA has its position and stand point which is unquestionable.” However, she believed that China is changing to be more open and transparent. Lo also revealed that due to institutional problems in China, many newspapers cannot follow the foreign news agencies. They are not able to run independently or subject to government. She thinks that Chinese government still need some more time to move forward.
