TV broadcasting corporations (have made caustic working environment) to their employees because of limited competitors, commented Ho Yuet Fung, a global media specialist, during a seminar held in Shue Yan University on this Tuesday.

Ho pointed out that the offer for staff in television stations had long not been improved, and deterioration was believed hard to be seen in the near future. ‘This field has been occupied by 2 public broadcasting companies only. Cable TVs are managed in a different ways and thus need not to compete for same group of media practitioners. Without keen competitions in the human resources pool, offers for the staff can hardly be meliorated,’ explained Ho.

Although Ho agreed that wealthy could hardly be brought by working in the broadcasting field, she strongly believed that a caustic working environment would definitely obstruct the quality of TV programs. In her days working in TV stations, researching and script writing would be handled in 2 different departments. ‘When the script-writers got any new ideas, the research team would start doing specific research for them to enrich the contents,’ said Ho. However, because of cost-cutting, this ideal working environment could not been seen now.

Being asked whether establishment of new TV stations would make the field over-saturated, Ho showed a total disagreement. She was looking forward to seeing more fresh blood to bring revolutions since she believed ‘more players always better’. ((like the angle of 'caustic working environment'...writing just needs to be more fluid and a bit more clear and you'll be fine))
