David Schlesinger, the Chairman of Thomson Reuters China, refused to predict the future of Hong Kong’s freedom of speech after CY Leung had become the next Chief Executive.

The Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Election ended on Sunday. Owing to the political scandals during the election, people were wondering if the new CE of Hong Kong will suppress the freedom of speech and make Article 23 legislation.

“You don’t criticize the future, you only report what you saw,” said Schlesinger, who suggested people not to make suspicion on the future.

David believed that journalists should report the truth by observation, questions, interviews and investigation instead of predicting. Whether the general election will be carried out in 2017 and the orientation of legislate article 23, still needed to be found out and proved by journalists.

“Predicting is a dangerous thing,” said Daivd. Even though it is useless and meaningless to predict, however, the future is not bright in Hong Kong.
