The freedom of press in China has long been criticized as restricted, which makes journalists afraid of reporting this kind of news. David Schlesinger, Chairman of Thomson Reuters China, said he will try his best to report the truth.

David admitted that some topics are so sensitive to be reported in China, which could put reporters in danger, “for instance, Falun Gong and some secrets,” he continued,” I realize that some foreign reporters' passports were taken out by the China government and could not be got back afterward,” David said seriously.

When talked about freedom of speech in China, David said that they are not afraid of reporting some sensitive news,” We [Who is we?] won't do self-censorship. We just simply report the truth and not try to write one-sided story that describing China is right,” said Schlesinger.

However, David advised reporters to be careful during reporting.” You have to be sure your fact, especially in China,” David continued,” You should understand the limit (of China Government) and know how to protect your sources.”
