Chau Yick, Former Deputy General Manager of Wen Wei Po said openly that the current Wen Wei Pao has lost its direction. “I had stopped reading Wen Wei Pao since 10 years ago, as it is now totally a mainland China media."

Wen Wei Pao is local Chinese newspaper which first established in Shanghai in January 1948. It aims at delivering the latest development, especially the recent 20 years of Mainland to readers and supporting New China.

Chau said that Wen Wei Pao used to be a good newspaper, “It helps readers understand the situation in mainland China. Though its languages is deviate to Communist, it still contains a variety of information.”

There was a rare exception that Wen openly blame the Republic of China, which ignited by objection the use of force in 1989 Tiananmen Square Protests, as a result even the editorial was replaced shortly thereafter.

However, Chau sigh that Wen Wei Pao has changed. “It used to speak for student who died in the forth June Incident, but now the editorial department is dominant by Putonghua speakers, and break off all the connection to local newspaper industry.” ((sloppy and a bit unfocused...could be cleaned up significantly))
