( The title could be more concise like this: "Cheng's meeting in Taiwan sanctioned contradicting press report". Sanction here means "give official permission or approval for". It is better to say "veteran Taiwan activist" instead of "experienced Taiwan....". The meaning of the sentence "China will lose the power of rallying in Taiwan policy" is confusing.)

Spokesman of Alliance for True Democracy, Joseph Yu-shek Cheng, said, the meeting with experienced Taiwan activist Shih Ming-teh last saturday was approved by his members

Cheng argued that, Hong Kong Economic Times misled public about the approval of his trip to Taiwan. He said, according to the meeting held last Wednesday, most of the members supported Cheng to visit Taiwan individually, as well as joining the discussion with Lee Cheuk-yan and Chu Yao-Ming.

Cheng said, he met not only Shih Ming-teh, but also agricultural, democratic and human rights organizations. He addressed the visit is normal and regular because he has meetings with those organizations few times a year and treat it as a sign of pressure to the Beijing government.

Cheng said, if Hong Kong cannot advance democracy, China will lose the power of rallying in Taiwan policy.

Cheng claimed that he is willing to sacrifice, in terms of arrestment and imprisonment. However, Cheng discouraged students and teenagers to get arrested intentionally.
