Lai Man Cheuk, who is an experienced professional working in the media field said, “China lacks professional scriptwriters.” He said China is pressed to have more experienced scriptwriters to write good scripts and they are promised good payment in the end.

The Hong Kong TV industry is still flooded with wonderful and skilled scriptwriters commented by Lai. “Hong Kong TV industry does not lack talents in writing script; however, in China, scriptwriters are wanted badly,” he said. He mentioned that by writing one episode, they will earn about $12,000 in Hong Kong TV industry and it is relatively lower when comparing with earning $30,000 in China. Some more well known scriptwriters could earn up to $50,000 each episode. He emphasized that, “China is the way out for all scriptwriters.” ((good))

Some said TVB is facing the loss of talents in scriptwriting because of keen competition from CTI. Lai said TVB’s production staff members are up to 1800 and the loss is only accounted for 5%. He said this misconception is brought by the Chairman of CTI because he made good use of “emotional tactics” to persuade others he recruited many scriptwriters from TVB. ((very solid work here...the lead could be edited before submitting, but otherwise, everything else is strong))
