Will you donate money to the flag-selling people on the street? It is a common scene that people on the wheelchair ask you to donate money, have you ever thought about how (would your money spend to-edit)? In Hong Kong, there are government and Media to monitor the charity organizations. However, in China, there is still a long way to go.

Louie Tong, the community relation manager of the Community Chest, (was-omit) attended to a talk by Shue Yan University yesterday, said that we should give more time for China to build up a charity system.

Last year, a Chinese girl named Guo Meimei, showed off her wealth (i)n the Internet by posting photos in Weibo, and she said she was the general manager of the Red Cross Society. It attracted many netizens’ attention. People wondered why she would be so rich and where have the donation gone. Beijing people started to question the Chinese Cross Society, some of them even stopped donate to it. After that, people pay more attention to the charity society in China, as they lack transparency.

“The charity work in China is not mature, as it is just started.” Tong said. She appealed to people, if there are any charity cheat people by using dishonest behavior, people should call the police immediately.

In Hong Kong, 10% of the donation is used for the investment in order to increase the total amount of fund. “We would not take part in the high-risk investment and we will (keep the public know how-edit) their money was spent.” Tong added.
