The country that dominates 5G technologies will win the world match, therefore US was in panic when China is leading the competition, a columnist says.

Huawei Mate X, labeled as “the world's first 5G foldable phone”, announced to be launched in this year, which Chinese media Global Times reckoned telecom titan Huawei’s 5G technologies has been “implemented”.

“US will not let Huawei and other Chinese telecoms as well as electronic equipment supplier under Present international technological trend,” said Yau Ching-Yuen, founder and chief editor of media agency Post 852 in a Shue Yan University talk.

Yau said being “unpredictable” is the tactic of US President Donald Trump, that he will never tipping his hand and play by the rules, therefore US Department of Justice filed financial fraud charges against Meng Wanzhou, Huawei CFO.

However, Yau disagreed media’s speculations of Trump taking extradition of Meng from Canada as his bargaining chip of the US-China trade war.

Yau explained that Trump is a “merchant” that sees everything as “merchandises”, therefore he did not talk about Meng and Huawei’s 5G issues during the past 7 trade talks with Chinese counterparts, but focus on solving structural trade problems such as reducing trade deficit.

Speak about the reason UK and Germany did not join the US, despite Trump’s best efforts to consolidate Europe countries to crush Huawei’s operation, Yau reckoned their wise move.

“I would do the same thing if I were the Prime Ministers of UK and Germany, as refusing the plan on blocking Huawei’s 5G network supply provides benefits to their countries, which Huawei is indeed the most affordable telecom on the list,” said Yay.

Yau said US and Germany meanwhile claimed their concerns over the potential national security risks of using Huawei’s 5G network infrastructures, but they chose to trust the company under the circumstance that reports show no spying evidence from Huawei.
