Chiu Sin Chun: The Budget is too Conservative

The Budget of Hong Kong in 2012 has been announced for few days. Although there are some helpful measures for Hong Kong citizens, Chiu Sin Chun, a financial commentator of Now TV, criticized the Budget is too conservative without any vision. ((adequate lead))

The basic concept of making the (B)udget is to calculate and estimate the income of the Hong Kong government first. Then, the government will base on the income to estimate the expenditure of the coming year. Chiu disagreed with this conservative way of making the Budget. “The government should be more open-minded and braver than before to make the Budget. It should depend on how much money is going to spend during the coming financial year and then think about some ways to earn more than that specific amount of money,” Chiu said.

“It would be better if the government can have better research and development plan of Hong Kong,” Chiu added. Chiu believed that if the government can put more resources to do the research, it can help to make more suitable policies for the development of Hong Kong. Then, Hong Kong citizens can enjoy long-term benefits of those useful and helpful policies. “Good policies are essential for the development of our society. Thus, the Budget should not be too conservative,” Chiu thought. (('thought?) you can read his mind?)) ((overall pretty good except for the last word hiccup))
