Chow Yung cited Egypt and Syria as an example to demonstrate people protest and fight for democracy turned to rebellion easily. He thought that it is not worth to cause casualties until the last moment.

The Silent Majority was formed in August by more than 40 academics, business and professionals patriotic and some Hong Kong organizations, which oppose Benny Tai Yiu Ting’s Occupy Central Movement. Chow claimed that it will mobilize 100,000 people against Tai’s campaign.

Chow agreed Hong Kong should have democracy and the concept of universal suffrage. He added that the true situation and the reality were different. Hong Kong people may have rights to vote in 2017 but according the basic law, the central government has the appointment right of the chief executive. The central government can let people from democracy party to become election candidates of chief executive but will not approve the appointment even when they were elected.
