More and more news organizations have to use news from their audience, “they [the news organizations] must have to embrace the news from their audience,” said Stephen Quinn, Digital Development Editor of South China Morning Post, when giving a speech in Hong Kong Shue Yan University today.

Stephen believes that the most successful new organizations are working with the citizen journalists nowadays. He suggests the news organizations to reward the audience that contribute the news content, because “if u [the news organizations] just take it [the news] for free, the audience might stop eventually.”

Since the digital technology used in reporting is getting better and tinier, devices like pin-hole-camera is used commonly during reporting, Stephen reminds the reporters to strive a balance between privacy of the interviewees and the freedom of reporting as “Privacy is probably one of the most important questions (to reporter) in 21st century,” said by him.
